“I was given the watch by a former prime minister of another country. There were two of them I didn’t even know how much they cost,” he stated.
Obinna stared in disbelief after investigating the watch’s price online as the MP defended why he owns the piece stating that collecting watches was his passion.
“Sometimes Kenyans are on the wrong. This watch was not made for treest or cows, it was made for human beings. Who do you want to wear this watch? Lets stop being jealous,” Sudi noted.
Sudi has previously been spotted donning the Ulysse Nardin Phantom watch valued at approximately $128,000 (Kshs16.6 million).
It is a luxury timepiece with several notable features, such an sleek exterior made of 18-karat gold, platinum, and high-grade stainless steel and straps made from alligator leather.
The Ulysse Nardin Phantom piece is known for its intricate mechanical movements. The Phantom model owned by the MP features complex mechanisms, including tourbillons, perpetual calendars, or minute repeaters. Its innovative design incorporates artistic elements and sophisticated aesthetics but also precise timekeeping aspects like chronometers.
The watch is highly likely to be a limited edition, as it features a skeletonized design, showcasing the intricate movement within the watch and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clarity. This is why the watch can withstand any environmental conditions ,including exposure to water.
Kenyans have reacted in anger after the episode aired, calling out the MP for his obscene display of opulence especially after demands to leaders to show a sense of acute awareness towards challenges ordinary citizens face.
“Imagine going on air in a country where the minimum wage is less than a dollar to talk about a watch worth KSh 17 million. Majority are suffering; most of my patients die for less than a 20th of this watch,” Humanitarian doctor Ja Prado opined.
“Oscar Sudi was on Obinna show flaunting about his KSh 17 million watch! Things that continues to fuel our anger,” another netizen argued.
“Here is a message Kenyans. We all can see that this level of ignorance and tone-deafness is unbelievably out of control. But the man did not get into office via a coup. He ran for office and the voters fell for it,” X activist Bonnie Mwangi stated.
