Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to pay lifetime school fees for 11-year-old Princess Angel who boldly recited a poem during the Akurinu National Prayers Conference at Nakuru High School, Nakuru County on Sunday, June 9.

Together with his spouse Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, he hosted the poet at his official residence in Karen on Tuesday, June 11, where he stated that he would take care of her education until she achieved her dream career.

He described her as a talented, bold and sharp young girl with a profuse, profound prowess in poetry, mastery of English and Swahili, and sweet soothing refined rendition skills.

“We can’t allow that talent to go to waste. We have secured an admission at Utawala Academy, Nairobi and she will join immediately.

“I will take care of her education needs until she becomes the heavyweight Lawyer she desires to be,” the DP said.

The delighted young girl was grateful for the Deputy President’s thoughtful act of inviting her and her mother, Ann Kariuki, for breakfast and offering to support her education.

“I am very excited to meet Riggy G. I had longed for the moment. I say, thank you Deputy President for identifying my talent. I promise to work hard and become a heavyweight lawyer. Nisaidie watoto walio na talanta lakini hawana uwezo wa kuziendeleza (to support young talent from underprivileged backgrounds),” Angel said.

Angel urged her peers to have confidence in displaying their talents, emphasizing that it could unlock various opportunities for them.

The mother expressed profound gratitude to the Deputy President and his spouse for hosting them, stating that the visit to the residence was a dream come true. She added his support in her education would play a pivotal role in shaping her future.

She recalled the moment when they collaborated to compose the piece that she presented, which she said was easy work for the budding wordsmith.

“Angel is very sharp. She has asked me to work with her in drafting the poem on the President and his Deputy. Within minutes, she had perfected and mastered it. My input was negligible; she led the process. I am grateful the Deputy President has offered to help us,” she said.

She presented before the President, his deputy and other prominent politicians including Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.
