Businessman and philanthropist Hasmukh Patel, owner of Mombasa Cement Company has died.

Patel died on arrival at Premier Hospital in Nyali after a battle with illness, family spokesman Samir Bhalo confirmed.
In addition to founding Mombasa Cement, he served as the director of both Corrugated Iron Sheets in Kenya and Tororo Cement, located in Uganda.
Through the Hasmukh Patel Foundation, Patel provided scholarships to underprivileged students nationwide and has sponsored numerous charitable initiatives across various sectors.
As a philanthropist, he was a strong advocate for environmental conservation, most notably through his initiative to transform the Kibarani Dump Site in Mombasa into a public park.
Furthermore, Patel made significant contributions to the healthcare sector by enhancing healthcare infrastructure and facilitating access to medical services for disadvantaged communities.
Additionally, he ran the Sahajanand Feeding Centre, which provides meals to over 40,000 needy individuals daily in Mombasa.
Since starting the program in 2008, he dedicated his resources to philanthropy, including supplying clean water to slum areas and supporting education for children with disabilities through the Sahajanand Special School.
In recognition of his contributions, Patel was awarded the Order of the Burning Spear in 2021 and appointed as a director of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
