President William Ruto’s son George Ruto is hogging the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The little known son of the head of state is said to own two matatus plying the Ongata Rongai route which have been accused of flouting traffic rules as police officers watch helplessly. READ FULL STORY
One of the matatu is christened Moneyfest, a pimped ride that is loved by the youthful clientele.
According to Matatu Welfare Association chairman Wilfred Bosire, the two vehicles block and harrass other operators as traffic police officers look on.
“Kuna magari watu wanasema ni za serikali, gari haina at jina ya Sacco..gari inakuja hapa inareverse kwa roundabout , askari wanaangalia tu”, the chairman told Citizen TV.
Interestingly, if not sad, the matatus are not on the official NTSA portal.
The vehicles lack Road Service Licenses (RSL) and one of the matatu has not been inspected.
Citizen TV reported that the matatus are not registered in any Sacco.
An investor in the transport industry told Citizen TV of the owner of the matatus,
“Askari wa trafiki, hata Regional Commander, hawaeziongelea hizo magari, hii ni nchi gani tunaishi? People are scared, they can’t speak, but some of us must speak whether we’re going to be abducted or not. We want fairness in doing business”.
