Tanzanian artist Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz, has revealed that he could have quit music a long time ago if his focus had been solely on making money.
The singer, who has also invested in other businesses, said that the income he accumulates from music is much lesser than what he earns from his businesses
“To grow, you need to take on more responsibilities that will generate additional income. If not, I would have exited the music industry,” he remarked.
He further elaborated, “The businesses I have now make me more money than my music.”
However, he emphasized the importance of not forsaking one’s passion, advising, “You shouldn’t leave; you just need to add more work.”
In addition to his music career, Diamond, who has built his brand from the ground up and continues to do so through personal projects and various ambassadorial roles, owns a record label that has signed artists such as Zuchu, Mbosso, Lava Lava, Dvoive, and Queen Darlene.
With his wealth estimated to be over Sh 700 million, Diamond has diversified his investments into several businesses and properties.
In December 2021, the musician launched his betting firm, Wasafi Bet, targeting football enthusiasts in Tanzania.
He is also the owner of Wasafi media which has Wasafi TV and Wasafi FM under his brand.
On Thursday, November 3, the affluent musician made another significant financial move by launching his airline, dubbed Wasafi Air. He revealed that he purchased a helicopter capable of night flights to be part of his fleet.
“It’s part of the airline. The one that I bought is going to be the first helicopter in East Africa that can fly at night. Most of them can only fly during the day,” he explained, as quoted by Who Owns Kenya.
