Vioja Mahakamani actor Alphonse Makokha laid his late wife, Purity Wambui, to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery today Thursday, June 13. Wambui passed away on Saturday, June 1 after a long battle with cancer.
The eulogy shared by the family detailed the day’s programme, with friends and loved ones scheduled to assemble at Kenyatta National Hospital at 6:30 am for a short service and viewing at the hospital mortuary. READ FULL STORY
The ceremony at Lang’ata Cemetery was set to begin between 9:30 and 10:00 am, with praise, worship, and an opening prayer.
The reading of the eulogy was scheduled for 10:30 am, followed by tributes and speeches, after which friends and family were to view the body before she was laid to rest.
The eulogy detailed the onset of Wambui’s illness in September 2023.
“A visit to the doctor revealed she had stage 4 breast cancer. Despite her health challenges, she remained strong and hopeful, spending as much time as possible with her loved ones. She was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital on May 29 and sadly, she passed away on June 1,” it read.
Wambui and Makokha were married for 31 years and were blessed with four daughters. Makokha expressed his sorrow in a tribute, saying how much he would miss her company.
“I will miss you so much, my dear. I don’t know who I will share stories with now. It’s tough! Rest in peace, my love,” the tribute read.
Her daughters eulogized her as the family’s rock and was a fearless, determined go-getter and they would surely miss her presence.
“Mama, you were my rock. You showed me the meaning of being brave, no-nonsense, and a go-getter. I promise to take care of Dad and Puuh just like you did. I will always love you, Wambire,” Sahnice Msagini’s tribute read.
Wambui’s family spoke warmly of her, highlighting the community’s deep affection for her. They mentioned how her kindness and strength impacted many lives, and praised her courage and brevity in expressing her thoughts, which served as a great source of inspiration.
“She was a fierce defender of her loved ones, always ensuring their well-being and happiness. Her love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire us. We will miss her dearly but will always carry her in our hearts,” the family said.
The family also expressed their gratitude to those who supported them during this difficult time.
“Your support, prayers, and kind words have comforted us greatly. Thank you for being there and helping us honour and remember Purity’s life. Your presence and assistance have meant the world to us. Thank you all,” they said.
