Mathias Keya popularly known as Alfonse dot Makacha dot Makokha is a talented Kenyan actor who rose to fame in times of the then ‘Vitimbi’ Show. He currently acts in Hullabaloo estate that airs on Maisha Magic East and therefore his name is such a household name.

Alfonse Makokha Education and Career Background
Makokha went to Dr. Kraft Primary school where he did perform well in his exams. He later joined high school for her secondary school education but later dropped out in form two due to financial constraints.
He at some point dropped out of school when he was in form two due to lack of fee. At this point, he also thought that his acting career had started to vanish but little did he know that it was just the beginning of his victorious acting journey. Makokha was to join Zuma Zuma that earned him a tour to South Korea.
“Soon after dropping out, I joined Jericho Acrobats group by the name ‘Zuma zuma’ where we used to perform in events and shows, which included performing in luxurious hotels in Kenya. My biggest breakout came after I joined Jericho Cultural dancers. Our dances and comedy shows earned us an unforgettable tour to Korea,” He shared with Radio Jambo.

Makokha came to fame years back when he was featured in Vioja Mahakamani comedy show that used to air on KBC channel One. In the show, he had other renown actors such as Peter Sankale who used to act as Olexander Josephat, the late Mzee Ojwang Hatari (Benson Wanjau), Ondiek Nyuka Kwota (Hirum Mungai) , Gibson Kamau (Prosecutor), Mama G aka Judge (Lucy Wangui) among others. He was also the center of attraction on Vitimbi show.
On an interview with Radio Jambo, Alfonse stated that he found it hard to adjust to the Nairobi city life when he first stepped there in 1992. He had to basically learn to understand Swahili and some English in order to cope up with life in the city.
“I started acting as a young kid, I can vividly remember it all started when I was in class 3, at Dr. Kraft Primary school where I participated in music and drama festivals, a hobby-turned talent which I took along throughout primary school.” Alfonse told radio Jambo team.
One day when he was performing in one of the hotels in 1992, Mama Kayai of Vitimbi noticed his talent and decided to invite him for a shooting. Makokha nailed it and straight away was absorbed to Vitimbi show without auditions.
Makokha has acted and featured in television shows such as Vitimbi on KBC, Daktari on KTN, Vioja Mahakamani on KBC, Jungu Kuu on K24 and currently, the funny man is in Hullabaloo Estate on Maisha Magic.

He has performed for Kenyan Heads of State such as Daniel Arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki and even the current President Uhuru Kenyatta in various public functions. In the year 2017, Makokha’s show Hullabaloo Estate bagged the best comedy of the year in Kalasha Awards.
