David Langat, the chairman and founder of DL Group of Companies, is a little-known billionaire who has made significant contributions to Kenya’s business landscape.

One of his most notable projects is the Ksh 200 billion AEZ Pearl River Industrial Park in Eldoret, which he initiated in partnership with the Guangdong New South Group.
In this article, Eafeed looks at Langat’s investments that are spread across the country.
AEZ Pearl River Industrial Park
Langat gained prominence when he shared his plans of starting the Africa Economic Zones (AEZ) Pearl River Industrial Park in Uasin Gishu county, a Ksh200 billion industrial hub.
This ambitious project, in collaboration with the Guangdong New South Group, aims to revolutionize Kenya’s manufacturing industry.
The industrial park, which will cover 700 acres once completed, is being developed in three phases: a special economic zone, a science and technology hub, and a recreational zone.
Langat’s motivation for the project stems from his desire to support youth empowerment and create job opportunities in Eldoret.
Unfortunately the project is far from being actualised with the businessman blaming water shortage and roads for the delay.
“We have a challenge with the road which is about three kilometres. The President in 2019, when he visited Rivatex, ordered that the work (on the road) to commence immediately but two years later nothing has happened,” he told Business Daily in 2019.
“We are also facing a water shortage. There is no water at the site and any industry coming up must have water. Power was another challenge but we have resolved it,” he added.

Koisagat Tea Estate
Langat owns the DL Koisagat Tea Estate located in Nandi county. The estate not only cultivates tea but also processes its own tea products.
In 2013, the company made a mark by producing purple tea on a 100-acre piece of land, becoming one of the first Kenyan companies to do so.
Langat’s tea ventures extend beyond Kenya, as he acquired three British firms in 2018.
Nyali Mall
As one of the pioneers of shopping malls in Mombasa, Langat is the proud owner of Nyali Centre, a sprawling complex covering over 330,000 square feet. The mall houses offices, shop premises, supermarkets, restaurants, and showrooms, solidifying Langat’s presence in the real estate sector.
Kapchebet Tea Factory
Langat founded the private limited company, Kapchebet Tea Factory, in 2001, situated in Kericho county. This establishment further strengthens his foothold in the tea industry.
Selenkei Investments Ltd
Based in Mombasa, Selenkei Investments Ltd focuses on generating electricity from solar energy. Langat’s investment in renewable energy showcases his commitment to sustainable business practices.
