His mother, Eunice Atieno Omondi, has broken her silence following his passing, sharing how she received the news.
She detailed how she did not learn of his passing until a day after the news broke, and how shocked she was.
“Ilikuwa Sunday kitu kama saa tano mchana ndipo niliskia habari kuwa Fed ameaga dunia,” she narrated in an interview.
She recounted her son’s childhood, describing him as a jovial child, whose witty antics led him to become a top comedian in the country.
“Tulkuwa tunaona vituko zake, tunamuachia hizo vituko na hizo vituko zilizaa matunda,” she recounted.
The heartbroken woman recalled fond memories she shared with her son, stating that his loss brought her profound sadness because she shared a special relationship with her son.
“Fred alikuwa mtu mzuri sana, alikuwa anapenda familia yake na alikuwa amenipenda sana . Fred nilimpenda na ameenda na roho yangu,” she grieved.
One of her most cherished memories was when Fred once took her along on a tour to meet Siaya County Senator Oburu Odinga. It was unbelievable to her that he had such influence, meeting one of Nyanza’s renowned politicians.
She appealed to her sons'(Eric and Fred) friends to support their family during this difficult time and help facilitate a befitting sendoff for the comedian.
The late comedian will be laid to rest on June 29th in Bondo and the burial is expected to be attended by close family members, friends and notable figures from the entertainment industry.
