Gladys was born in Tigoi situated in Vihiga County. This was in 1951 and then she spent her formative years being raised in the area.

She was an alumnus of Kenyatta University where she studied Education training to be a teacher upon completion. Gladys ended up however quitting in 1975 to pursue her passion. She taught at Tigoi Girls High School before she decided to go into radio. Ms. Erude wanted to be a host and present in a radio show.
Gladys Erude Career Journey
During her time at school, Gladys was nicknamed Salim Mohamed like a Swahili newscaster. They called her that since she was a proficient speaker and was able to talk like a professional broadcaster. Her journey saw her join KBC Swahili where she was in charge of reporting and broadcasting news. Gladys Erude was best known for her time at the station.
To boost her marketability and employability, she enrolled at the Kenya Institue of Mass Communication (KIMC) where she earned the skills to be a great radio presenter. Upon graduation, she got into KBC and worked for the government broadcaster for over a quarter of a century.
She retired from the role in 2001 and ventured into Marketing before moving to the United States.
Gladys Erude Personal Life
She got married in 1971 to her husband and after four years of marriage, he, unfortunately, succumbed to Diabetes. Their marriage was blessed with four sons after which she adopted two girls. When her husband died, she was supposed to be inherited by a family member from his family. This did not auger well with her and she decided to leave her matrimonial home for Nandi County. Gladys Erude started off her life by buying land and built a house for herself and her children.
Gladys Erude Death
She succumbed to cancer and a heart condition which was confirmed by her brother Kirigano Laban and her son Sly Erude.
