She explained that the digital nature of the SHIF will be fundamental in erasing fraud and corruption, particularly in claims management.
Nakhumicha also noted that the registration and identification of beneficiaries at the point of access to healthcare services will be greatly improved.
She further emphasized that the program will be critical in providing registration, contribution, the benefits package, empanelment, claims management and other services.
How to register for SHIF
According to the Ministry of Health, SHIF countrywide registration is set to kick off on Monday, July 1, 2024.
Speaking in a press briefing, CS Nakhumicha explained that one to register, they can do so through USSD code *147#.
Additionally, you can register for SHIF on its official website, www.sha.go.ke, or by visiting the designated National Health Insurance Funds (NHIF) offices.
This service is also available in other registration points for self-registration at no cost.
