Veteran radio presenter Fred Obachi Machoka has never shied away from gushing over his wife Sophie, taking every opportunity to remind the world how special his lady is to him.

“She has played a big role in my career, Everything that I have needed has come from her. I got married while on radio and she has been by my side ever since, 44 years ago and still counting so I am a happy guy,” the seasoned radio presenter said in an interview.
“When you are a happy guy, you do stuff that makes other people happy, if you are not happy it is not easy to make other people happy and so she’s been my guardian angel, she’s been my confidant, and she is everything to me. I don’t have anything else I could wish for,” he added.
Blushing in response, Sophie noted that theirs was a unique journey, saying that she was lucky to be married to Machoka, who also goes by the moniker ‘Blackest Man in Black Africa’.
She encouraged young couples to evaluate the strength of their relationships, advising them that if they were fortunate enough to find something valuable, they should hold onto it tightly.
“My advice is when you have something good like I have, hold on tightly,” she urged.
She credited the love that they share for their decades-long marriage, adding that it has carried them through good and bad times.
“The core thing is the love have for each other, it has driven us through difficult times, though good times and we still feel like we are going far,” she noted.
The couple renewed their vows at their Isinya ranch in 2020 in a colourful ceremony to mark the celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary.
