Alex Chamwada Age and Place of Birth

Chamwada was born on 16th August 1971 in Vihiga County in Sabatia constituency. His late father Pastor Herman Ayiego ministered at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God in their village and together with Alex’s mother practiced small-scale farming in their home to cater for their twelve children. 

Alex Chamwada Education Background

Chamwads is an alumnus of St. Peter’s Mumias High school where he successfully completed his secondary school studies and was placed in Moi University to pursue a BSC in Information Science. A post-graduate diploma in Mass Communication was his next endeavor at the University of Nairobi. Upon successful completion, he went on to pursue a Master’s degree in politics and Mass media at the University of Liverpool.

Alex Chamwada Career Journey

Alex Chamwada was conferred Order of the Grand Warrior – by retired President Mwai Kibaki in 2010 for his exceptional work in Journalism. This award came after several years of hard work and gathering experience in the field.

Chamwada’s career kicked off in 1994, spending the four subsequent years in volunteering opportunities with Kenyan Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), a private foundation, and Trans World Radio. He spent these years gaining entry-level journalism experience growing rapidly in his career journey. In 1999, Alex Chamwada joined Kenya’s biggest media house Royal Media Services working as a radio and television reporter. The following year, he joined Voice of America for a month-long internship opportunity in the States. In 2001, he joined KTN in the position of senior reporter, holding the post for four years. After the period, he took up the role of political editor in the same network.

Between 2008 and 2014, he was back to Royal Media Services working as an Associate Editor in charge of politics. He resigned from the well-paying job to pursue his private practice in Journalism. He founded Chams Media Limited, a communication consultancy firm that offers Chamwada and his team room to produce and curate their preferred content and explore growth avenues. At Chams Media Limited, Chamwada has been able to create two shows “The Chamwada Report” and “Daring Abroad” which were aired on KTN for over five years before the termination of the partnership in 2020.

Chamwada is married to Irako Caroline Chamwada with whom they have three children named Chelsea, Leon, and Kessey Chamwada. The couple has been married for two decades.
