Alice Muthoni Wahome is a Kenyan politician and the current member of the national assembly for the Kandara constituency. She was recently selected as the cabinet secretary for Water by president William Ruto in an announcement on September 27th, 2022 at the state house.

Early Life

Alice Wahome was born in 1965. There isn’t much disclosed about her childhood life.

Education

For her primary school education, Alice Wahome attended Karumu Primary School before joining Siakago High School where she completed her secondary school education. She later joined the University of Nairobi where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB).

Career

The new cabinet secretary started her career back in 1991 when she was deeply involved in the Women Movement. During that time, she also joined the Fida council as a vice chairperson. She has also served at the Law Society of Kenya for two years.

In 2013, Alice Wahome vied for the Kandara Parliamentary seat and won. She was among the sixteen women who were elected as MPs against the 274 men that were elected at the time. She was later re-elected using the Jubilee party ticket in 2017.

Family

Alice Wahome is married to Godfrey Wahome Ngayu, a top gynecologist in the country. She is also a mother of four children, three girls, and a boy. She shared in an interview with Lilian Muli that her first daughter is a media personality, the second is a doctor, the third is a lawyer, and her son is undertaking law at the university.
