The insurance business is picking up swiftly in Uganda where the number of motorcycles supersedes that of actual cars. In this article, we will go over some of the best car insurance companies in Uganda and the covers they offer.
1. Sanlam Insurance
Sanlam has been a fast-growing insurance company with their branches spread across countries in East Africa. It is mostly known for general and medical insurance but it’s car insurance policies are also pretty good. For private cars, Sanlam offers comprehensive covers in the event of an accident. The caveat to this is that the insurance cover has to make sure that the costs of repairing the said car is reasonable.
They also offer limited cover in the case of fires, attempted theft, hijacking and actual theft. Again, the discretion of whether or not to cater for repairs lies solely on the judgement of the insurance company. While the caveats are many, they are reasonable as it pertains separating actual cases from those that are fake.

This insurance applies to countries like Kenya where Stanbic has bank branches but also Uganda. With a unique performance streak, the insurance covers offered by Sanlam are straightforward. They offer customized insurance plan according to one’s budget.
This customized insurance includes a UGX2,000,000 medical cover when involved in an accident. Additionally, payments are broken down into 3 installments over 60 days.
