Rashid Aman Biography
Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman is the current second CAS in the Ministry of Health (MoH), serving alongside CAS Mwangangi who recently entered the public service. Aman was appointed into Cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta Sicily Kariuki’s era to serve with Engineer Peter Tum.

Dr Aman is one of the doctors who have vast experience in scientific research, leadership and management. He went to the University of Nairobi and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. He later proceeded to the university of California in San Francisco for his PhD. in pharmaceutical chemistry.
Dr. Aman Career Background
Aman is currently the Chairman of the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO and a Council member of the Taita Taveta University. He is also an Honorary Research Professor at Strathmore University and a Senior Research Affiliate at the National Museums of Kenya.
In the year 1995 to 1988, Dr. Aman became the custodian of Hedida Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the School of Medicine, Stanford University, at Stanford, California, US.

From the year 1988 to 1990, he later joined the National Cancer Institute of the NIH at Frederick in Maryland, US as a Fogarty Visiting Associate.

- National Museums of Kenya (NMK).

Details about Dr. Amans family, wife and children are still under wraps. Back in the year 2019, Dr. Aman mourned the demise his father the late Mzee Abdi Aman. President Uhuru Kenyatta was one of the state officials who sent messages of condolences to the family.
“Mzee Aman was a strong pillar to his family, an elder whose counsel and words of wisdom will be missed by many. Indeed as a respected member of the community, he was a reference point on many on issues of life,” the President said.
“In this hour of sorrow, I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives and friends,” he added.
Mzee Aman, who passed on at the age of 92 years, was also the father of former PS Dr. Mohamed Isahakia.
“It is my prayer that the Almighty God will give you the strength and courage to bear the loss,” the President condoled.
