The senator was faced with rape allegations. This arose from an incident on 19th January 2021 in a resort in Nanyuki. There was a couple booked into one of the rooms in the resort opposite Meru Senator Mithika Linturi’s room. On that night, the couple’s room was not locked since the lady’s husband was out.

The lady identified as Beryl Akoth Owondo was in the room by herself. The door was thus open and lights switched on. He allegedly went into the room, locked the door, and switched off the lights all the while keeping quiet. He then allegedly proceeded to touch her in an unusual manner and later on both fell asleep.
When the lady’s husband came back in and knocked on the door, she was surprised since she thought the man beside her in bed was a husband. Upon switching on the lights, the lady was taken aback knowing that it was not her husband. Her husband on the other hand was furious. The senator allegedly approached the couple to settle the matter with a Ksh 1,000,000 offer.
Mithika Linturi’s side however claimed that he was attacked and stripped before his nudes were taken and threatened to publish the photos if he did not pay them Ksh 1,000,000.
Mercy Kaimenyi is the senator’s wife. They got married in 2000 and have since then been out of the limelight until date.
