Mulamwah is a Kenyan Comedian and a nurse by profession. His real name is David Oyando. He recently entered the comedy industry with a unique style that crack the ribs of many Kenyans who need a dose of laughter. He is well known as Commedian Mulamwah in the industry. Mulamwah’s Education and Comedy Career Background
David went to St Anthony’s Boys’ High School in Kitale, where he obtained a straight A in his KCSE examinations. He then Joined Moi University in 2012 to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. This gave him ample time and freedom to at least join the comedy clubs that he was longing for so as to showcase his talent.
In campus, he joined the Christian Union which provided him with the platform to showcase his comedy skills. He met his fellow students who had same dreams and together they would act short comedy skits.
Mulamwah then came across the DJ who saw a talent in him and therefore introduced him to a group of comedians in Eldoret. David was absorbed to the group and his stage name became Muindi by then. The comedy acting platform paid Mulamwah good cash to survive through tough campus life.
David grew up always grew up admiring to be like comedians of all time the likes of Vitimbi’s Mzee Ojwang’, Redykyulas’ KJ, Anthony Njuguna, Nyambane and Red Kona’s Mdomo Baggy and Kajairo. Mulamwah’s father treasured education so much that he didn’t allow him to join any acting clubs in school.
His dream of performing at Churchill’s show recently became valid. As he was still longing for this dream, he faced a hurdle of financial constraints though he was more determined to chase the dreams.

During an interview on one of the popular media platforms, Mulamwah narrated that he one day sold his phone to raise money for the fare just to go to Nairobi and meet Churchill and moreover to attend to the auditions.
He made it to Nairobi, tried auditions for three consecutive years which bore no fruits. His spirit did not run low; he even applied for intern ship at the Kenyatta National Hospital so that he be close to Churchill for more audition trials and even attend to House Helps of Kawangware auditions.
How Mulamwah Rose to Fame
Despite being unlucky in his audition trials, Mulamwah still knew that something big could still come to his side. In February 2019 he recorded a video of him doing a comedy about high school students and uploaded it on his Instagram wall. The video was warmly received by many, went so viral and finally brought him to limelight and ignited his comedy career.
As per the interview on Switch TV, The comedian preferred to choose WhatsApp as his medium of making his funny skits go viral. He further said that he chose the platform because he wanted to be unique and the platform was less competitive compared to others such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

Mulamwah has faced very many challenges from not only fans but also other members of the comedy industry. Many fans have been criticizing his comedy for a while now. The fans have a feeling that Mulamwah’s jokes are not good to them and those fans on twitter always compare his jokes to those of other comedians just to troll him. He also at one point accused Churchill Show’s comedian Wambilianga for stealing his jokes.
“ We post our videos online because we haven’t found a chance to be on TV yet. That doesn’t mean we don’t own them. It hurts sitting on TV at home watching your jokes being performed. If they have to be used then credits have to be given to the initial credits.” Mulamwah posted on his social media walls.
Recently, David declared that he is fed up with the trolls from fans and therefore he is quitting comedy. He even recorded a video of him setting his comedy cloth ablaze.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make. Am sorry guys, what was to make me happy makes me more sad, more enemies than friends, too much negativity, trolls. I wasn’t here for fame and bad blood but for fun. Shukran sana kwa the support from the fans and everyone else who made it a success. I once posted @carrol_sonie while in a hospital bed, we had just lost our baby at 3 months following stress after being trolled online. I have never been the same since then.
