Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki was the third president of the Republic of Kenya. He served the country for ten years. Kibaki will be remembered for giving the country the new constitution in 2010. The country also saw significant improvement in the economy during his rule.

Biography

Kibaki was born on November 15, 1931, in Gatuyaini Village of Othaya, Nyeri County. He went to Mang’u high school, and for higher education, he studied at the London School of economics and Makerere University.

The former president owns a couple of properties in the country including;

Gingalily farm- 1,200 acres along Nakuru-Solai road.

Igwamiti in Laikipia- 10,000 acres

Rumuruti in Naivasha-10,000 acres

Ruare Ranch- 1,600 acres

Bahati in Nakuru- 10,000 acres

Kibaki owned the 14-floor Union Towers which he sold to Mount Kenya University for Ksh 800 million. He also owns a 10,000-acre ranch in Nakuru. In 2016, he was selling half the land at Ksh 11 million per acre.

According to Mr. Geoffrey Ndung’u, the retired president would have earned billions of money which would have been used to finance a “gated community with more than 800 homes, a shopping complex, schools, and other social amenities.”

Along Nyeri- Nyahururu is the former president’s multi-million house. The house, which is Kibaki’s retirement home, is situated on a high point, showing a beautiful view of Mt Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. The 100-acre land is located next to the Mweiga airstrip. Besides this, the former president also owns a beautiful luxurious home in Muthaiga and other properties and vehicles.

Kibaki received an average pay of Ksh 2.86 million every month. This amount includes pension. This amounts to a total of Ksh 34.43 million per year. His net worth is estimated at Ksh 20 billion. The former president worked in various fields over the years. However, most of his wealth came from his career as a politician.

Death

The Late ex-President Kibaki died on April 22, 2022. The cause of his death is not yet known.
