Education

For her secondary school education, Susan Wafula went to St. Brigid’s Girls Kiminini. She later went on to join the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) where she attained her Diploma in Pharmacy.

In 2006, she attained her Diploma in Healthcare Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. She later went on to join the Jomo Kenyatta Institute of Agriculture and Technology where she completed he Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics and Supply Chain Management in 2014.

Susan Wafula is currently studying for her Ph.D. degree in Business Management, Operation Management, and Supply Chain Research at Jomo Kenyatta University. She will complete it in 2023.

Career

The new cabinet secretary has worked with several NGOs and corporates in the health sector. She describes herself as an expert in Procurement and Supply Chain on her LinkedIn profile. She is knowledgeable in the efficient tracking and traceability of goods.

She served as the Head of Supply for the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Global Programme for Research and Training. She also served as the Procurement and Logistics manager at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

Susan Wafula is the Ford-Kenya party national vice chairperson for the women, youth, and children docket. In the August 2022 general election, Susan vied for the Trans-Nzoia Women Representative seat which she lost, emerging third.
