Gathoni Wa Muchomba Age and Place of Birth
The forty-five-year-old woman was born in 1975 in the now Kiambu county in a small town called Komothai. Gathoni grew up in a polygamous family and this might be the reason why she has recently been seen to advocate for the same. She has told the men of today that should they be in a position to cater sufficiently for more than one wife and more children, they should embrace the polygamous marriage institution. She was born into a family of 4 and a bigger step family.

Gathoni attended a local primary school in her home town before proceeding to the Precious Blood Secondary school for further education. She performed well while at school and evidently landed a job holding at Makuyu Secondary School as an untrained teacher as soon as she left high school. Gathoni’s career life began immediately after clearing high school not counting the number of odd jobs she pursued at a younger age to support her mother’s efforts in tendering to their family.
She worked as a radio presenter at KBC Radio, Kameme FM and Inooro FM. She found a niche there in presenting in her vernacular Agikuyu. This was because this is her mother tongue and her work was a natural and easy way of her to address her listeners.
Her time at Radio opened up her mind to embracing work and the life at broadcasting. This planted the seeds for her later founding of Utugi TV a local and vernacular television station that is keen on promoting agricultural literacy and good practice as it remains the main income earner for most people in the country.
In 2005, she started Smart Media College to provide services to many students without discrimination based on past credentials. She has then been able to open branches in Nairobi and Nakuru.
Her political career took off with her contesting for a seat as the Kiambu County Women Representative which she won. She has used the platform to provide changes to her people, supporting the poor and the locals. In this light, she has faced controversies such as careless statements that almost had her lose her seat.
