Esther Akoth famously known as Madam Boss aka President of Single Mothers aka Akothee is a Kenyan controversial no-nonsense philanthropist, entrepreneur, singer and songwriter. She happens to be the first Kenyan to ever have a collaboration with the coveted Tanzanian music guru known as Diamond Platnumz on their song ‘Sweet love’. Apart from being in the music scene, the hot mother of 5 is the founder and CEO of Akothee Safaris, a tours and travel company established in Kenya.

Akothee went to Nyabisawa secondary school for her secondary education. However, she dropped out of school at the age of 14 while she was in form two so as to be with her boyfriend at the time. Akothee together with the boyfriend went to her mother- in- law’s place. Soon after, her boyfriend had to go back to school, something that forced her to be left behind for the next seven years, serving as a house help to the mother-in-law.
During this time, she had already conceived her first child whom she gave birth to at the age of 14. Akothee gave birth to her second and third children at the age of 15 and 16 years old respectively. However, her 2nd child passed on due to infancy- related illnesses, something she had no money to help her seek treatment for. At the age of 20, Akothee gave birth to her 4th child. This was in 2000. A few months later, Akothee had issues with her mother-in-law, something that made her leave to go get her life together.
The songbird then moved to Kanga town where she hawked fish so as to fend for herself. At this time, her boyfriend had since cleared high school and was in university. After completing his university education in 2003, the two made the decision to move in together. They then decided that Akothee should go back to school as the boyfriend takes care of the children.

Akothee went to Gachie Mixed Secondary School so as to complete her secondary school education. She did her best and was able to do so in 2004 when she was 21 years old. She was able to come out with a mean grade of C+, scoring a straight A in History and Geography and D- in Mathematics.
Akothee Personal life and Background
She was the first-born child in her family. She comes from a humble family where she grew up in Migori for a good part of her childhood. After completing high school in 2004, Akothee moved to Nairobi to live with her husband who had been taking care of their 3 children while she was at Gachie Secondary School, completing her secondary education. Life was so tough in Nairobi. They were even forced to beg for food and other basic needs since they were not in a position to live a comfortable life.
The neighbors even donated cooking pots, cooking sticks, clothes and bedding for them. Luckily, her husband landed a job, something that meant that their life was about to take a turn for the better. However, shock on her since her husband her and their three children for another woman on 6th October, 2006. At this time, Akoth was left as a single mother at the age of 26.
A divorced, hurt, broke yet determined Akothee moved to Mombasa town to stay with her brother. She became a taxi driver, something that changed her life for the better. While working as a taxi driver, one day, she carried a passenger who was from Zurich, Switzerland.
The Swiss man ended up becoming her boyfriend. Her even took her to her home country. Madam Boss even conceived her fifth child, Okoth, while with him. However, nine months later, the two broke up. Akothee packed her belongings and moved back to Kenya with the wish to pursue music as a career.

Her music career kicked off in 2008 after she had just moved from Switzerland. She has been able to release amazing songs such as Oyoyo featuring Galaxy, Sweet Love ft. Diamond, Give it to me ft. Flavour, Djele Djele, Osilliation, Benefactor, Mama Bougerie, Rollam, Baby Daddy, Lotto, Tucheze, New Dance ft Oc, Katika, Pashe, Shengerera and Tucheze. This year, in March 2020, she released a song known as ‘Mwiitu asa’. She also released ‘Nakupa Moyo’.
Akothee Kamba Song
In March 2020, Madam Boss released a song of Kamba language known as Mwiitu asa. The song was written and sang in Kamba language. This raised eyebrows since it is clear that Akothee is not from the Kamba community. She does not even speak the language, leave alone know how to write it. Most of her fans, especially those from the Kamba community, found this fascinating.

Akothee Collapses
In December 2019, while performing on stage during the Luo Festival in Kisumu, Akothee collapsed. The sad incident happened barely 2 days after being discharged from hospital. She had been admitted in Nairobi’s Karen Hospital for flu and fatigue.
A day later, she took to her social media account to apologize to her fans for the unfortunate event. She later stated that she was okay and that she collapsed due to fatigue since her body was still weak. She jokingly told her fans that a single mother of 5 has to work hard, even when she is not feeling her best.

Akothee is a proud mother of five; three daughters and two sons. Vesha Shalian Okello, Celline Dion Okello, Prudence Apundo Otieno, Oyoo and Ojwang’. The two sons are mixed and have their different fathers overseas.

It was just a few days prior to that that she was trending for all the wrong reasons since raunchy photos of her during a live performance in Watamu were making rounds on social media.
Ezekiel even said that she cannot be a role model to daughters of today and that music does not have to be dirty to sell. Akothee responded to this, saying that when she was broke, she was no- one’s role model. Ezekiel awarded Akothee the money, claiming that she is the most improved artist in Kenya. Akothee took to her Instagram account to thank the KFCB CEO for appreciating her talent.

Nelly Oaks is Akothee’s manager as well as the alleged lover. The two have taken raunchy pic together several times. She recently posted, stating that she is in need of a personal trainer/ swimming instructor for three months and not a boyfriend. She went ahead and started that she does not mess with her employees since male employees make her uncomfortable. This could be a sign that Akothee is currently single.
