Oguna as a Government Spokesperson
In May 2019, Retired Colonel Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna was appointed by the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru as the new government spokesperson. He took over Mr. Eric Kiraithe’s position with immediate effect.
The new position meant that he had to oversee Kenya News Agency and MyGov which are the two-government news gathering and dissemination channels. Eric Kiraithe had been in office since August 2018.
With the office of the government spokesperson being domiciled at the Ministry of ICT, Cyrus Oguna’s new tasks involved overseeing the role of all Government of Kenya communications channels under the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology.
