Doreen attended primary school in Mombasa account in two schools before she got into Nkuene Girls High School. She then went on to the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) for her undergraduate Law degree then proceeded for her Advocates Training Program in the Kenya School of Law. She additionally holds an MBA from the University of Nairobi.

Being a trained legal professional, Doreen has an extensive portfolio of her area-proficiencies. She is a trained lawyer and a consultant on ADR methods – Alternative Dispute Resolution methods such as Negotiation, Mediation, and Arbitration.
Majala is an Accredited Member of the Court Annexed Mediation under the Mediation Accreditation Committee, a program of The Judiciary of Kenya.
Customer Service Management and Public Relations are also among her professional proficiencies and areas she has built an array of experience in. Doreen went on to develop mechanisms for firms and companies to manage relationships with clients and mitigate crises management.
Additionally, she has a five-year experience in media where she worked as a reporter, producer, and news anchor. In this line of her professional work and journey, she worked with Nation Media Group (Ebru Africa TV and NTV). She has revealed that she misses the screen and media work from time to time.
In 2016, Ms Majala founded the Doreen Majala Foundation, a charitable organization that seeks to create education opportunities by providing necessities and resources for basic education. The foundation focuses on building reading rooms in elementary schools in economically deprived areas.
The rooms have diverse learning materials of subject areas such as Language, Reading and Writing, Newspapers, Story books, and STEAM books (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
She is the foundation’s chair and drives programs by developing strategic plans to deliver their services to needy children in society. Some of her work is in delivering face masks to children in schools to protect them from the Covid-19 virus.
