Mutahi Kagwe Education
Mutahi attended Kihate Primary School from 1965 to 1971 for his primary education. He then went to Kagumo High School from 1972 to 1977 for both his O and A levels, after which he joined the University of Nairobi (UoN) from 1978 till 1981 where he pursued Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance).
His hunger for education made him proceed to the United States International University (USIU) from 1988 to 1992 where he did an MBA.

Mutahi Kagwe Political Background
After finishing his MBA, Mutahi saw it as the best opportunity for him to join politics. He became the fifth Member of Parliament (MP) for Mukurweini Constituency, Nyeri county. This was from 2002 to 2007.
During this time, he was able to be the Chair of Parliamentary Committee on finance, tourism, planning and trade. He was later appointed as the Cabinet Minister for Information and Communications then he became the first Senator of Nyeri county under Jubilee political party (March 2013- August 2017).

It was during his time as the Cabinet Minister that TEAMS, the first Fibre Optic Project for East Africa was launched, Mpesa, the world’s first ever money transfer system came into existence, ‘the Best Classroom’ championing was launched and the Cyber Security and Protection Bill in the Senate of Kenya was sponsored, thanks to him. The CS became the Kenyan Heath Cabinet Secretary on February 28th, 2020.

Mutahi became the Heath CS of Kenya at a time when Corona virus was and still is a global pandemic. Barely 10 days after the first case was being identified in Kenya, the total count of people infected with the virus had risen to 15. The government is trying to do its best to prevent any more spread.
Things put in place is to ban social gatherings such as clubbing, advising people to practice social distancing as well as very high levels of hygiene and reducing the number of people that board public transportation. The people who have come to close contact with the infected patients are also monitored.
