In 2006, Korir joined the University of Nairobi where he pursued a law degree and later graduated in 2011. While at the university, the politician served as a congressman. He became Secretary General of the Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) in 2008.

Career

Korir is a firm supporter of former Deputy President William Ruto. In 2011, he was the national youth leader of the No Camp which was headed by Ruto. This was during the time the referendum was taking place, where the ‘Yes’ team that was headed by ODM party leader Raila Odinga won. He was also employed to be the personal assistant of the Eldoret North Constituency Member of Parliament.

Later in 2012, he joined URP and later vied for the Langata parliamentary seat, but lost to ODM’s Joshua Olum. Later in the 2017 general election, he vied for the same seat, this time under the Jubilee party, and was successful.

The young politician has worked at the office of the deputy president as a secretary in youth affairs. He was also involved in youth-related functions of the government like the Uwezo Fund, Youth Enterprise Development, The National Youth Service, and the Kenya National Volunteers Program.

Korir was ready to defend his seat in 2022 but lost to Jalang’o. He conceded to defeat saying, “From the results that we have tallied at the Generali center my competitor Jalang’o has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Lang’ata forward.”

Nixon Korir is married to Beryl Zoraima. The two held a colorful wedding ceremony at the Karen Blixen Museum. It was an invite-only event that was attended by family and top politicians in the country. They have three children together; two daughters and a son.
