Rebecca Miano is a Kenyan lawyer and the managing director and CEO of KenGen. She was recently selected to be the new cabinet secretary for the East African Community by president William Ruto

Education
Rebecca Miano is an educated lady who holds a Bachelor of law degree from the University of Nairobi. She then went to the Kenya School of Law where she the Advocates Training Programme. Also, she holds a Master of Laws in Comparative law from the Australian National University.
Career
The new cabinet secretary started her career working at “Musyoka Annan & Company Advocates”, which is a Nairobi-based law firm. She then worked at “Slater and Gordon”, a law firm in Queensland, Australia.
Later in 1998, Rebecca was employed as an assistant legal officer in Kenya Electrical Generating Company (KenGen). She slowly rose in rank to become assistant company secretary. In 2008, she became both the Director of legal affairs and the company secretary until 2017.

In August 2017, she was promoted to Acting Managing Director. Later in November 2017, Rebecca beat other ninety applicants to become managing director and CEO. She replaced Albert Mugo who retired after hitting sixty.
Rebecca Miano is the first female chief executive at KenGen. In addition, she is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. She was appointed to be the new CS for East Africa Community and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands on September 27th, 2022.
