Farida Karoney Chepchumba is the current Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Lands. On this position, she was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Before assuming her role in the Ministry, she had served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Media Services (RMS).

Farida Karoney Chepchumba Education Background
Farida went to Kenyatta University from 1989 to 1992 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Education degree in Botany and Zoology. She later went to the University of Nairobi where she pursued a postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication.
Farida later enrolled in the MBA degree course at University of Nairobi and in 2008, she graduated with a Master of Business Administration with a specialty in Strategy. She then went ahead and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree, specializing in Strategic Management from the same university.

In 1993, she worked as a Biology teacher at Khamis High School in Mombasa. This lasted less than a year before she got a job in 1994 at Kenya Television Network (KTN) as a freelance correspondent then as a reporter then as a Features Editor. She left KTN in December 2000 and joined Nation Media Group in January 2001 as an Editor.

By July 2004, she had risen to the position of an Associate Editor, a position she left when she joined the Standard Media Group as the Managing Director. She worked here 2 years after which she joined Radio France Internationals and Al Jazeera English Language network, working as a freelance contributor and as a producer respectively.
Farida returned to Standard Media Group in 2007, working as the Head of Editorial at KTN. During this time, she also worked as the Assistant Director for Broadcasting at Standard Group Limited. She then worked as the Group Editorial Director at Royal Media Services from February 2009 to mid-2014.
She was then promoted to the position of the Chief Operating Officer from August 2014 till January 2018 when she assumed office as the new Cabinet Secretary for Lands, a position she holds up to date.

He was unreachable until on Monday, the 6th of April 2020 when friends went to his house and broke his door, finding his lifeless body lying. Medics stated that he died due to stroke.
