The Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology was established in 1975 and now has town campuses supplementing the main campus. RVIST as many refer to the institution is committed to offering high quality training to its learners for them to thrive in whichever field they settle for and explore.
The programs offered at the institution are categorized into artisan, craft, diploma and higher national diploma categories with more than sixty courses available for selection. These are offered on campus and students can select between part-time and full-time study structures. READ FULL STORY
Candidates who wish to be assessed following extensive experience in a particular field can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning for courses examined by TVET – CDACC at the institution. Additionally, customized courses can be availed for The school is run in nine departments outlined as follows:

Requirements
For enrolment into any of the institution’s diploma courses, a minimum KCSE grade of C- is required. For placement in the ECDE Diploma program, a minimum of KCSE grade of C is required. Artisan courses require either a KCPE certificate of a minimum mean grade of D- in KCSE.

Application
For candidates who meet the required threshold for the various programs, they can download application forms from the website at rvist.ac.ke and print it out. They will then proceed to fill it in to completion as incomplete applications are not considered for placement.
The candidate will also have to ensure that their KCSE certificate or result slip is ready. The documents are scanned and submitted for review at submission@rvist.ac.ke. For successful candidates, admission letters are also available for download on the website using one’s KCSE index number and year they sat the examination to access the document.
Student Portal
The students’ portal is a tool that students use to access university material, news and other academic related material. To create an account, continuing students use their admission number and input a password to secure their account.
They then proceed to log in to the portal and access materials such as transcripts, examination results, timetables, course registration confirmation, student fee statements and booking for accommodation within campus. Accommodation is only available at the main campus in Nakuru and always has limited spaces available thus students should organize their affairs should they miss an accommodation spot.
Branches
The RVIST has two campuses in Nakuru and one in Kericho. The Kericho campus is located at Ndege Chai House while the Nakuru town campus is situated at Dimu House.
