Robert Alai, a controversial Kenyan blogger has made it to the news again after falling onto the wrong side of the Law. He was arrested on Friday 23rd July by Kilimani police officers on grounds of vandalism, malicious property damage, and assault to gospel artist – Apoko Alex alias Ringtone.
The two got into an ugly exchange on a highway in Nairobi City along Oloitoktok Road as Ringtone recounts the events. Ringtone then says the blogger followed him and upon pulling over, Robert began hitting his Range Rover with a rungu and even attacked Ringtone. The musician was spotted in the scene bleeding and clad in blood-stained clothes and beside him was blogger Robert Alai still with the rungu in hand.
Additionally, Ringtone and Alai were involved in a bitter exchange with several onlookers on the scene taking videos that have gone viral and taking sides between the two. The blogger is in police custody awaiting Monday when he will be arraigned for the charges Ringtone pressed – assault, vandalism, and property damage.
Robert Alai Past Misdemeanors
Alai is not new to being at loggerheads with the authorities. His controversial blogging has had him arrested and punished on several occasions. For example, he was arrested for sharing unverified Covid-19 information amidst the pandemic. He has also in the past publicly shared gory images of slain police officers in an Improvised Explosive Deice attack in Wajir.
