Sarah Serem is the current ambassador of Kenya to China. Before assuming her current office, she was the chairperson at Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Sarah is 61 years old as of the year 2020. She was born in Nandi District and raised on a Christian religious background. Sarah Serem Education and Career Background
Sarah Serem obtained her Bachelors Arts Degree in Sociology and Political Science at the University of Nairobi. After successfully completing her studies at the university of Nairobi, she was employed at the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation where she worked as a personnel officer for eight years.
“I was the first one from my village to join university. They even organized a party in my honor and showered me with gifts. Despite that achievement, my status did not change. I still valued the people around me,” Sarah said on an interview with a local daily.
Sarah also worked at the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank in the human resource department as the Deputy Human Resource Officer before she became the Human Resource Director.

She later took her early retirement and left the corporation and together with his friend became a co-founder of Young Biz, which is a multinational trading company. Young Biz sharpens entrepreneurship skills in young people. She then left her friend to manage the company and joined Salaries and Remuneration Commission in the year 2011.
Her good work, determination and commitment in the commission was so evident and consequently she was nominated to be the Kenyan Ambassador to China – a move that was passed in the Kenyan parliament.
Sarah Serem Foundation
Some of the things Sarah loves most are; giving back to the society, love for people and desire to help the needy. Because of that, Sarah started the ‘Sarah Foundation’ whose major objective is to help the Maasai girl-child.
The foundation was started in support with women ministry in her church and has now grown bigger to accommodate more than. Under the foundation is a home that serves as a rescue and rehabilitation center for girls who have been married off at an early age.
Sarah Serem and Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic
Things have been going on so well on Sarah’s job until the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic. She has become a subject of ridicule with accusations that she doesn’t care much about the Kenyans who live in China despite a number of them being mistreated.
On news screens, many Africans from various countries including Kenya are seen crowding and sleeping in the streets of China, being accused of being the spreaders of the corona virus in the country.
Sarah Serem Husband Family and Children
Some of Serem’s resilience comes from her widowhood. Her husband Serem, who was a general in the military passed on in 2005 when her children were so young.
She is a single mother of five and a grandmother of six grandchildren too. Recently, she married off her two elder daughters in a colorful church wedding. “My greatest joy was when I allowed them to enter into marriage; I felt a deep joy.” She says. Sarah always has a major rule as the manager of her family that every singer daughter of her must have a second degree before marriage. According to Sarah, this will help become good managers in their homes.
Sarah’s firstborn Juliet Serem Kiboma is a practicing architect in the United States, her second daughter Karen Serem Waithaka studied actuarial sciences in finance and is currently an investment consultant. Sarah’s third-born Daisy Serem is a communication specialist with UNICEF and her youngest child Chemtai Serem, is a medical doctor who graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Nairobi. Nevertheless, Sarah did not have any son. She therefore adopted a son, Dennis Serem who is an automotive technician.

Sarah is a little bit secretive and therefore prefers to keep matters to do with her personal life away from the public eye.
