They termed him as not being good enough. That is when he decided to pursue comedy. Churchill signed him for Churchill live show and a year later, KTN hired him to host the Hawayu comedy show. The show was later cancelled due to poor ratings. Instead of feeling bad about himself, he used this chance to understand the industry better, prompting him to be better at comedy. The rest is now history.

Erick started doing comedy professionally when he was signed by Daniel Ndambuki, who is the owner of Churchill show, which is a local comedy show. He later on left the show and wanted to do comedy single-handedly. Eric has since been able to grow his brand, usually using his social media platforms to keep his followers hooked. A few days ago (7th April, 2020), Eric Omondi’s creativity caught Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe’s attention after he posted a 9- minute video clip imitating CS Kagwe. In the video, Eric Omondi gave a press briefing on the ongoing Covid- 19 pandemic, just like the health CS does on a daily basis. Besides him were 3 men who were posing as health officials. Eric gave a case study of one Kevin Otieno who arrived landed on JKIA on 8th March.
He failed to self-quarantine and ended up moving around Nairobi, meeting up with various slay queens in a matter of hours. In the video, he was able to ace CS Mutahi Kagwe’s accent and choice of words, something CS Mutahi commended him for, especially since he used his skill, creativity and influence to pass important information in a way most would relate to and understand.
This came in a few days after president Uhuru Kenyatta directed the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage to set aside Kshs.100 Million to cushion local artistes, actors and musicians from the Covid- 19 pandemic. The money is meant to help them create content so as to inform and to entertain people during this difficult time.
Eric Omondi on Jimmy Fallon Late Night Show
Omondi was the first Kenyan to ever make a feature on Jimmy Fallon’s show. He flew to United States on 28th of February on a business mission where he was expected to perform on 3rd and 4th of March in Las Vegas. He then made an appearance on one of the United States’ biggest ‘The Tonight Show’ that is hosted by Jimmy Falon.
