The Kisumu National Polytechnic is a TVET accredited institution that was founded in 1967. It has been a great contribution in making a wider population able to access higher learning and gain technical skills that they can then use in solving problems in the society and even providing a source of income for the graduates.

In addition to the above, the Kisumu National Polytechnic requires that first year students pay a mandatory Ksh 1,500 for KUCCPS. On-campus accommodation is also provided at the cost of Ksh 6,000 per term for students who decide to stay within the school. Medical laboratory students are also required to pay Ksh 3,700 to the medical board and the pharmacy students each pay Ksh 1,000 to the pharmacy board. For the courses that take part in practicals, the university requires a payment of Ksh 6,000 per annum for this service.
