The level of peacefulness of one country is based on three thematic domains namely the degree of militarization, the level of safety and security in the society and the extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict. 1. Mauritius
The Global Peace Index 2019 reports has it that Mauritius is the most peaceful country in Africa at the moment. It had a score of 1.562, 4 positions down from the previous year. Its global rank is 24.
2. Botswana
With a global rank of 30, Botswana happens to be the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa right now. It has a score of 1.676, 1 position up from the previous year.
3. Malawi
With a global rank of 40, Malawi is third on this list. It has a score of 1.779, 4 positions up from the previous year.
4. Ghana
Ghana is the 44th most peaceful country in the world and 4th in Africa at the moment. Its score is 1.796, 5 positions down from the previous year.

5. Zambia
Zambia is the 48th most peaceful country in the world right now, tying in the same position with Timor-Leste. Zambia, the 5th most peaceful country in Africa has a score of 1.805, with no change in position from the previous year.
