Samkelo attended Fairways Primary school for her primary school education. She then proceeded to Sandringham High school for secondary education. She also went to AFDA where she got to perfect her acting skills. Samkelo is from the Xhosa community of South Africa. She speaks fluent English, Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho and Tswana.
She decided to pursue her acting career immediately after high school. She was able to act in Taka Taka, which was her first acting role after high school. After that, she was able to act in other shows such as Generations, Zone 14, Intersexions, ‘Nkabs and Soul city.
